Privacy policy
What we collect, which is very little, and why.
Quarter Past is built so that your record never leaves your Mac. This page says exactly what does leave it, what the website and the checkout collect, and your rights.
Who we are
Quarter Past is made and sold by SeeForth Services Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales, company number 09793300, registered office 3rd Floor, 86–90 Paul Street, London EC2A 4NE. We are the data controller for anything described here. Contact: hello@quarterpast.app.
The app: what stays on your Mac
Everything you record stays on your Mac. Your projects, tasks, entries, notes, plans and settings are kept in a local data store on your computer. There is no account, no sync and no server of ours that holds a copy. We cannot see your record and we do not want to.
The app has no screen-recording or accessibility permissions. It does not read your screen, your documents, your browser or your other apps. It knows only what you tap and type into it.
The app sends us no analytics, no usage statistics and no crash reports.
The app: the two things that do leave your Mac
| What | When | What is sent | To whom |
|---|---|---|---|
| Update check | When the app looks for a new version | A request for the update manifest. Like any web request it carries your IP address and the app's version. No identifier for you or your Mac. | quarterpast.app, hosted by Cloudflare |
| Licence check | When you enter a licence key, and about every fourteen days after | Your licence key and a name for your Mac, so the licence knows which machine it is on. Nothing from your record. | Our licence service, run by the payment provider named at checkout |
If the licence check cannot reach the server, the app keeps working for sixty days and tries again later. A licence problem never blocks you from reading, editing, analysing or exporting your own data.
Copy for AI, and exports
Copy for AI puts a written summary of your record on your clipboard. Nothing is sent anywhere by the app. What you then paste into Claude, ChatGPT or any other service is between you and that service, under its own privacy terms. The same is true of any CSV or backup file you export: it is a file on your Mac until you choose to send it somewhere.
The website
quarterpast.app is a static site served by Cloudflare. It sets no cookies of its own, runs no analytics scripts, loads no fonts or scripts from third parties, and has no forms. Cloudflare, as our host, sees the IP address of every visitor and keeps short-lived request logs for security and to keep the site running; Cloudflare's own privacy policy governs that processing.
If you email hello@quarterpast.app, we keep your message and our reply for as long as we need to help you, and then for our records for up to two years.
Buying a licence
The checkout is run by a payment provider acting as merchant of record. The provider is named on the checkout page and its privacy policy applies to the payment itself. It collects what any online payment needs: your name, email address, billing country and payment details. We never see your card details.
From the provider we receive your name, your email address, your country, the order details and the licence key issued to you. We use these to deliver the licence, to honour refunds and support requests, and to meet our tax and accounting obligations. We keep order records for six years, as UK tax law requires.
We do not send marketing email. If we ever start a newsletter it will be opt-in, separate, and easy to leave.
Legal basis
We process purchase and licence data because it is necessary to perform our contract with you, and order records because the law requires us to keep them. We process support email on the basis of our legitimate interest in answering you. We do not sell personal data, share it for advertising, or transfer it outside the United Kingdom and European Economic Area except to the payment provider and to Cloudflare, each of which has its own safeguards for international transfers.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask us for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, object to our processing, or ask us to restrict it. Email hello@quarterpast.app and we will respond within one month. Because your record lives only on your Mac, deleting it is in your hands: remove the app's data or the app itself and it is gone.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Children
Quarter Past is a tool for work and is not directed at children under sixteen. We do not knowingly collect data from them.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be published here with a new effective date. If a change affects what the app sends, we will say so in the app's release notes as well.
